Welcome to South Sands Hotel, formerly The Commodore Hotel, a relaxed coastal escape set above the long curve of Sand Bay in Kewstoke, North Somerset, and just 10 minutes from Weston-super-Mare. The hotel brings together easy-going comfort, delicious food and a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
With Worlebury Woods on one side and the National Trust nature reserve at Sand Point on the other, Kewstoke is perfect for a scenic dog walk or a cycle ride.
At the heart of the hotel are The Bay restaurant, Rock Salt café and South Suite, each offering a stylish, welcoming setting to unwind, eat well and relax in.

The Bay
The Bay is our stunning, light-filled restaurant, serving dishes that reflect the skill and creativity of our kitchen team, led by our talented Head Chef, Chris Wade. The menu focuses on delicious dishes made with seasonal, local produce.
Dinner is served from 5pm to 9pm every Thursday to Saturday, along with a Sunday lunch menu from 12pm to 6:30pm.
The Bay is also available for private hire and ideal for meetings, club gatherings, committee sessions, corporate lunches and celebrations.
Events
South Sands hosts a year-round calendar of gatherings that bring people together, from Christmas party nights and Valentine’s evenings to seasonal fayres, low-noise firework displays and family occasions such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
With warm hospitality, great food and a setting close to Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare, Uphill, Worlebury and Milton, it’s a welcoming place for friends, families and colleagues to enjoy time together.
Rock Salt
Rock Salt is the hotel’s licensed café, serving hearty breakfasts and brunches, great coffee, delicious light bites and favourite classic dishes, making it the perfect stop-off for walkers, cyclists and holiday park guests.
Dogs are very welcome inside, and in the warmer months you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh sea air.
Rock Salt is open Monday to Wednesday from 8am to 2:30pm and 5pm to 8:30pm, Thursday and Friday from 12pm to 2:30pm and Saturdays from 12pm to 5pm.
Weddings
We offer a welcoming setting for couples looking for a relaxed coastal wedding. The South Suite is licensed for marriages and civil ceremonies and suited to both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations, with thoughtful service and wonderful food shaping the day.

South Suite
South Suite is the hotel’s most spacious setting, making it the perfect function room for guests who need a little more room for an event, celebration or wedding. Its flexible layout makes this party venue ideal for creating a bespoke celebration space.
With its calm palette, generous layout and outdoor terrace, it’s a beautiful wedding venue and perfect for special occasions and larger events.
South Suite accommodates up to 120 guests seated or 250 standing for buffet-style events.

South Sands offers two flexible spaces for private gatherings of all kinds - The Bay and South Suite. Both are perfect for milestone birthdays, family celebrations and business events, while South Suite is also licensed for marriages and civil ceremonies.
